2022 BUSINESS SUMMIT

 

The Workforce & Business Development Program (W&B) of Community Action Committee of Pike County (CAC) will be hosting their annual Business Summit Event in person this year on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, from 8:30 am – 2:30 pm. The focus of this year’s Summit is PEOPLE FIRST: Everyone Wins, which will focus on leadership development, team building, and creating an empowering workplace culture.

This event will be hosted at Twin Lakes Resort on Tackett Lane in Piketon. Guest Speakers will share information and resources regarding the topics for the day’s sessions:

  • LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT – Guest Speaker, Beth Flynn from the Ohio State University’s Department of Agricultural, Communication, Education, and Leadership (ACEL) will be leading the session on exploring the impact of leadership development by focusing on the staff’s needs.

  • CREATING YOUR CULTURE – Guest Speaker, Lisa Odierna from RICOH USA, Inc will join Brandi Hawthorne from the Transitions Program at CAC to provide innovative ways to create a workplace culture and how it can positively impact the organization’s productivity.

  • TEAM BUILDING – Instructor, Adam Days of W&B will share the simple principles that support building and leading effective teams within the workforce.

  • MASTERING THE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE – Instructors, Lisa Pfeifer and Erica Jones of W&B will explore the most effective practices that provide exceptional customer service experiences in every industry.

“We are extremely excited to be able to be hosting our annual Business Summit event in person again, and even more excited to share the information that our speakers will be offering during this event,” stated Lisa Pfeifer, W&B Program Director. “The greatest lesson that every business and organization has learned over the past two years is just how important the employees are and how true it is that when you put people first, everyone really does win!”

Beth Flynn is an enthusiastic educator, facilitator, and trainer. With an emphasis on interactive learning, her strengths-based workshops focus on attitude, creativity, motivation, and leadership styles. Beth's programs receive rave reviews, but the best compliment she receives is that organizations invite her back to conduct additional
trainings.


As a member of the Ohio State University Leadership Center team, Beth draws upon her knowledge and experience to help organizations improve employees' performance. Beth holds a master's degree in Community and Human Resource Development from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, and a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the Mount St. Joseph University in Cincinnati, Ohio. 


Certified Facilitator: Cultural Intelligence (CQ), DiSCflex, Emotional Intelligence (EQ), Spectrum Temperament Development, Gallup Strengths Coach, and Kirton Adaptive Innovation.

Lisa has worked within large corporations where she experienced first-hand the struggles leaders face on a day-to-day basis. She knows the signs of a "defeated leader;" and she recognizes that when employee morale declines, the company loses good people and revenue takes a huge hit.


Her experience consists of building leaders to effectively communicate with their teams and understand how to resolve conflict in a way that everyone feels good about the resolution. She has demonstrated and coached how to create a clear, easy-to-implement road map for a team to be successful with realistic action steps for solutions.


Lisa's career as a high-level leader is a tapestry of building successful workplace cultures that empower, improve, and last throughout the challenges faced by everyone on the team.

Brandi is a Human Services Professional who loves to be part of a passionate organization promoting growth and development. Brandi brings over 8 years of leadership experience with the ability to problem solve, as well as develop and coach teammates. She also possesses exceptional customer service and can provide clients the support and encouragement they need to succeed.


Brandi is the Case Management Coordinator of the Transitions Program in the Workforce & Business Development Program at Community Action Committee of Pike County. Her goals are helping build resilience in our community by targeting those in recovery, out of recovery, or those impacted by an individual who battles addiction.

BRN ASSISTANT

Adam is the Business Resource Network Assistant (BRN) for the Workforce & Business Development Program at Community Action Committee of Pike County. In addition to supporting local businesses in solutions to challenges and barriers, he works closely with Lisa Pfeifer and Erica Jones on building the Leadership Development Training Series that launched in the Workforce & Business Development Program in 2021 and is the key instructor in the training sessions.


Adam has personal experience with utilizing the principles and practices of team building throughout his 20-year career history in management and leadership with corporate retail chains in the Ross County area. In addition, he is experienced in marketing and advertising, event organization, and has an Adult Education Teaching Permit from the State of Ohio Department of Education.

W&B PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Lisa Pfeifer is the Workforce & Business Development Director and shares her 30 years of experience in marketing, promotion, recruitment, computer applications, classroom training, and public relations. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management and Strategic Leadership from Ohio University’s College of Business. 


Lisa has an Adult Education Teaching Permit from the State of Ohio Department of Education. She is also certified by the National Development Council as an Economic Development Finance Professional (EDFP). She is the Workforce & Business Development program’s lead instructor and is directly involved in scheduling and organizing classroom training programs and also provides one-on-one counseling, technical assistance, and loan underwriting, as well as loan collections.

ERICA JONES

BRN & OMJ SUPERVISOR

Erica Jones is the Business Resource Network (BRN) and OMJ Supervisor provides support to area businesses, gathering information about their needs, and then connects them to resources and incentives gathered from a network of BRN partners. Erica has an Associate’s Degree from Shawnee State University and is the OhioMeansJobs (OMJ) Pike County Career Center Supervisor. Erica’s BRN and OMJ experience has provided excellent networking opportunities and a very close, intimate connection to Pike County area businesses.


Erica assists in coordinating and planning business events such as the Career Fairs and Business Summit. She also manages the CAC FREE Income Tax Preparation and Financial Literacy Programs, she has an Adult Education Teaching Permit from the State of Ohio Department of Education, and is also the lead instructor for the Program’s Microsoft Excel Classes and Financial Literacy Classes.
