On-The-Job Training.png

On-The-Job Training (OJT) helps employers build a skilled workforce while reducing the cost of training new employees.

Through this program, eligible employers may receive reimbursement for up to 50% of a new employee's wages during an approved training period. OJT agreements are typically short-term, averaging approximately three months, and are designed to help participants gain the skills and experience needed to succeed in their new position. Employers agree to retain the employee after the successful completion of the training period.

To participate, the individual must:
•    Be a resident of Pike County.
•    Meet program eligibility requirements.
•    Complete an assessment to determine suitability for the OJT program.
•    Be enrolled in a Workforce Program before employment begins.

Employers may recruit candidates through their normal hiring process, including resumes, job postings, walk-ins, and interviews. Candidates may also be referred through Workforce & Business Development Program.

Our staff will handle the majority of the OJT agreement paperwork, making the process simple and efficient for employers. During the training period, employers are responsible for:
•    Providing copies of employee timecards or timesheets.
•    Completing periodic progress evaluations.
•    Verifying the successful completion of the training plan.

The OJT program is a valuable partnership that benefits both employers and job seekers by developing a skilled workforce while offsetting training costs.
