The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program provides free tax preparation services to eligible low- and moderate-income individuals and families. IRS-certified volunteers are trained to help taxpayers prepare and electronically file federal, state, and local tax returns accurately and securely during the annual tax filing season.

In addition to tax preparation, VITA volunteers help individuals identify and claim eligible tax credits and deductions, including the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and the American Opportunity Tax Credit (AOTC), which may help taxpayers maximize available refunds and reduce tax liability.

The VITA Program helps remove barriers to accessing reliable tax services by providing a trusted, no-cost resource for community members who may otherwise face challenges navigating the tax filing process. Depending on volunteer certification levels and program guidelines, additional tax preparation services may be available for certain tax situations.

For more information about eligibility, required documentation, and upcoming tax preparation dates, contact the Workforce & Business Development Program.
