Pre-Apprenticeship Training
Pre-Apprenticeship Training prepares individuals for entry into a Registered Apprenticeship or other skilled career pathway by providing foundational knowledge, hands-on experience, and workplace readiness skills.
Designed for individuals interested in pursuing careers in the skilled trades and other high-demand industries, pre-apprenticeship programs help participants build the technical skills, industry knowledge, and professional behaviors employers are seeking. Programs may include classroom instruction, hands-on training, safety certifications, employability skills, and career exploration.
To participate, individuals must:
• Be a resident of Pike County.
• Meet program eligibility requirements.
• Complete an assessment to identify career interests, skills, and training needs.
Depending on program eligibility and available funding, participants may receive assistance with eligible training-related expenses such as tuition, books, required supplies, personal protective equipment (PPE), tools, transportation, and other supportive services.
Pre-apprenticeship programs are designed to create a pathway to long-term career success by preparing participants to enter Registered Apprenticeship programs or secure employment in high-demand occupations. Through partnerships with local employers, training providers, and apprenticeship sponsors, Workforce & Business Development Program helps participants develop the skills and confidence needed to begin a rewarding career.
Registered Apprenticeship Training
Registered Apprenticeship Training combines paid, hands-on work experience with related classroom instruction, allowing participants to earn a paycheck while developing the skills needed for a successful career.
Registered Apprenticeships are employer-driven programs that provide structured training in high-demand occupations across a variety of industries, including the skilled trades, manufacturing, healthcare, information technology, transportation, and more. As apprentices progress through the program, they gain valuable work experience, receive incremental wage increases based on skill attainment, and work toward earning an industry-recognized credential upon successful completion.
To participate, individuals must:
• Be a resident of Pike County.
• Meet program eligibility requirements.
• Complete an assessment to determine career interests, skills, and program suitability.
• Meet the entrance requirements established by the Registered Apprenticeship sponsor.
Eligible participants may receive assistance with related technical instruction, required books, tools, uniforms, personal protective equipment (PPE), transportation, and other supportive services, depending on program guidelines and available funding.
The Workforce & Business Development Program partners with employers, training providers, and Registered Apprenticeship sponsors to connect individuals with apprenticeship opportunities that lead to family-sustaining wages and long-term career growth.
