The Adult Program helps eligible adults and dislocated workers overcome barriers to employment and prepare for careers in high-demand industries. Through individualized career planning, case management, and ongoing support, participants receive the guidance and resources needed to develop new skills, obtain employment, and achieve long-term career success.
Participants may receive assistance with career preparation, paid work experience, occupational skills training, case management, supportive services, and other resources designed to support employment goals. Depending on individual needs and eligibility, opportunities such as On-the-Job Training (OJT) may also be available. Click Services for more information.
Through the Work Experience Program, participants gain valuable hands-on experience while developing the skills, confidence, and professionalism employers seek. Local employers play an important role by providing meaningful work-based learning opportunities that help participants strengthen resumes, build workplace skills, and prepare for long-term employment. Eligible participant wages and liability coverage are provided through the program, creating a valuable experience for both participants and employers.
Financial assistance may be available for eligible participants pursuing occupational skills training that leads to an industry-recognized credential, certificate, associate degree, or up to the final two years of a bachelor's degree in a high-demand career field. Applicants must first apply for all available financial aid, and education and training providers must meet applicable state certification requirements before funding can be awarded.
To be eligible for the Adult Program, applicants must meet program eligibility requirements. Adult participants must have household income at or below 300% of the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines (FPIG). Individuals may also qualify as Dislocated Workers if they have been laid off, received notice of a layoff, or become unemployed after being self-employed. Additional eligibility criteria may apply.
